We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended our virtual Christmas Carol Concert. We hope you each enjoyed it as much as we did! We also send our appreciation to everyone who supported our fundraisers: buying raffle tickets, and donating prizes - without you it would not have been possible.

What have we been up to this month?

July has been fun-filled here at the elms. we are now in full swing of our 2 weekly Meaningful activity program. Where we have had innovative activities in each of our clubs, and on-going monthly projects. Families may have noted we have a monthly newsletter sent out, though this section of our website will have a weekly update and photos.

from pebble painting, to Theatre nights (with ice cream intervals of course) we have had such a variety going on! with the intention to try to have an activity each person will be keen to partake in. Each day differs in activities, though our approach includes the use of each of our 5 senses to try to connect with the individual in a way most appropriate for them.

this month we have two projects. The Elms post service, profile posters and our monthly 'avon' branded bingo. There will be more information and pictures on these next week...

The Elms tree of wisdom

THROUGHOUT THE LAST MONTH AT OUR HOME, OUR RESIDENTS HAVE BEEN DEDICATING TIME AND USING THEIR SKILLS TO CREATE OUR "ELMS TREE OF WISDOM". THIS HANDCRAFTED TREE, INCORPORATES EACH RESIDENTS HAND PRINT AS THE "LEAVES" OF THE TREE. WITH A MESSAGE/ PIECE OF ADVISE AT THE BOTTOM OF Their LEAF.

THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN CONDUCTED IN OUR WEEKLY MEANINGFUL ACTIVITY TIMETABLE. BEING THE MAIN FOCUS IN BOTH GARDENING AND ARTS & CRAFTS CLUB.

OVER THE MONTH THEY HAVE EACH DONE AS MUCH AS THEY HAVE WISHED TO, SO WE CAN PROUDLY SHOW OFF THEIR WORK IN OUR HOME.

08/05/2020 VE-Day Celebrations

We celebrate VE Day, 75 years have passed since World War II was declared over.

Here at The Elms, we have those who lived and worked through these days.

The period that we can only learn about in British history.

They have the true, lived, experience. Therefore, on this day we appreciate what they did for our country.

Dear All

We are organising a project here at the Elms to celebrate every care home, every resident and every staff member by singing from our balcony:

Thursday, the 9th of April, 2020 at 2.30.

We are inviting all care homes to join us to boost morale of all, at this uncertain time.

With years of experience in health and social care we are committed to people in our care, staff, to our local community, friends and families. We have got a very busy few months ahead of us and will use this time to get to know you all, listen to your ideas, wishes and suggestions. We will also work closely with our residents and their families, staff, local community and other health and social care professionals.

Although we will be meeting you all soon, we would like to organise an official Open Day soon for all our staff, residents and their families, professionals and everyone that have been such a great support to us over the years.

We are all really looking forward to our Care Home Open Day and hope that people will come out to support us in making it a memorable day for all. The residents love having many smiling faces in the home and we look forward to welcoming the local community through the doors for what is set to be great day for all ages.
