Our services include Residential, Complex Care and Specialist Care for people with dementia

We also provide long term as well as short term care known as respite care. However, we like to call it a holiday break.

We are registered with CQC to provide the range of care and support for:

Adults and Older People with Physical Disability.
Adults and Older People with Dementia.
Adults and Older People with Mental Health.
Adults and Older People with Sensory Impairment.
It is important to understand the difference between care homes and nursing homes. Both types of home provide accommodation, supervision from staff 24 hours a day, meals and help with personal care needs. In addition, nursing homes also have registered nurses on duty at all times.

The Elms is registered as a residential care home although we are very fortunate in that our manager is registered nurse and in addition, our provider is also an experienced registered nurse. This means that our residents are well looked after and the staff are lead by well qualified and experienced professionals.

Registered Care Services

Residential Care
Our 24-hour personal and practical support is provided by well-trained, caring staff and is designed to ensure you continue to enjoy maximum independence as well as peace of mind, knowing that help is always at hand.

Our holistic approach to residential care supports the physical needs of each resident, as well as their psychological and emotional well-being.
The Elms focuses on reducing the isolation and loneliness, promoting activities, independence, mobility and improved quality of life.

Complex care
Clients receiving complex care have substantial and ongoing healthcare needs. These can be the result of chronic illness, disabilities or following hospital treatment. Complex care is sometimes referred to as long-term care or continuing care.

At The Elms we are able to offer complex care for people with specific requirements. Our care and nursing team are committed to ensure our residents receive high standards of care in a safe place. We are committed to the ongoing professional development of our staff.

Respite Care
We offer respite care for people who need extra support following an operation or illness, or while their regular carer takes a well-earned break.

Being a full-time family carer is a very rewarding but also very demanding role.

Respite care breaks are an opportunity for carers to take a holiday or simply spend some time looking after their own needs, safe in the knowledge that their loved one is receiving the very best care.

In addition, respite care can be a valuable break for those in care as well – it’s a chance to meet new people, enjoy a change of scenery and try out some new activities and experiences.

Dementia Care
We have a dedicated dementia care support team who work to ensure that our home receives the most up to date information, support and advice on dementia care.

Our dementia team supports not only our staff but also supports our residents, their friends and families. We ensure that our residents feel comfortable, safe, active and engaged with people around them in the environment in which they are living.

Meaningful activities are a very important part of life and for that reason our residents are encouraged to take part in group activities such as the gardening club, quizzes and discussion club, baking club, craft club, film club, music, song and movements, entertainment and reminiscence.

The Elms also provides one to one activities for residents. Activities based on the senses such as touch, smell, taste, hearing and feeling are very effective for people with dementia as they do not rely on the memory or physical abilities of the residents.

Day Care
Day care is run by our dedicated and experienced care teams, giving you the peace of mind that your loved one is in safe hands while they’re with us.

People are welcome to come along for a couple of hours up to a full day or several days a week. We are here to make life as easy as we can for you, so although we have set opening hours, we can often provide care outside these times too.

We believe that remaining active is the key factor for each resident to feel alive, engaged and have purpose in life. We engage each resident in everyday activities based on their abilities.

We have a range of different clubs and activities developed which are based on the individual’s choice and interests.
